Softwoods grow much quicker than hardwoods. Our softwood ranges from clear grade Douglas Fir and Western Red Cedar through to Scandinavian Redwood & Whitewoods.

An extensive range of softwood include European Softwoods – Sawfalling Redwood, Sawfalling Whitewood, North American & Canadian Softwoods – Western Red Cedar, Clear Douglas Fir, Southern Yellow Pine.

WESTERN RED CEDAR

Colour – Dark chocolate brown to salmon pink, matures from reddish-brown to silver-grey ( a commonly sought after by architects ). Its grain is straight and has a coarse texture.

Use – shingles external and internal joinery, summer house’s, conservatories, weatherboard, TG&V profile cladding, shed manufacturing and beehives.

CLEAR DOUGLAS FIR

Colour – Also know as Oregon Pine, light reddish-brown shade, clear timber or baulks of large dimensions.

Use – Construction work, boat building, internal & external joinery.

Lengths – 3.9m – 6.6m

SOUTHERN YELLOW PINE

Colour – Reddish or purplish brown with an interlocked grain. An open texture due to the larger sizes of the pores. Strenght is comparable to European Beech.

Use – High quality joinery, cabinet work, boat building and furniture .
